*Bhopal* – The state’s health mission has failed to meet its TB testing targets, with officials admitting that even half of the 1 lakh TB screening goal has not been achieved so far.
According to reports from Bhopal, the Collector reviewed the performance of health officers during a meeting on the “Mission Mode” TB eradication drive. Despite plans to screen 100 patients per day in each district, the actual testing numbers remain far below target.
Officials revealed that while 50,000 people were supposed to be tested, the count has not crossed that mark in many districts. The Collector expressed dissatisfaction and directed health teams to accelerate screening, especially among high-risk groups and in areas with poor outreach.
Key instructions issued:
– Health workers and ASHA staff must intensify door-to-door screening and awareness campaigns.
– Pregnant women and children are to be prioritized for testing.
– Anganwadi workers and village-level committees have been roped in to identify symptomatic cases.
– District health officials were told to submit daily progress reports and ensure 100% coverage of pending targets.
The Collector stressed that TB elimination requires urgent action and warned that laxity in testing and reporting will not be tolerated. Health authorities have been asked to treat the next phase of the campaign on a war footing to bridge the gap before the deadline.
The administration has also planned increased supply of testing kits and mobile units to reach remote areas where access remains a challenge.
